Empower Africa
EMPOWER Africa
We are getting ready to Empower Africa at our Communicators for Christ conference hosted in West Africa time!
We’re partnering with a school in Ghana and one in The Gambia to inspire and train as many orphans and impoverished students in their care as possible.
But we need your help!
To help cover the costs to train these students, we’re hosting a Cultural Intelligence Training Fundraiser that allows YOU to grow alongside us as we learn to love these African students well. Here’s how it works:
- A Cultural Intelligence (CQ) workshop will be held before the conference to prepare adult and student leaders to love and lead well in the context of West African culture
- The CQ Training will be held October 10-11 (UTC 0, The Gambia Time)
- The Communicators for Christ conference for Ghana will be held October 13-14 (UTC 0)
- The Communicators for Christ conference for The Gambia will be held October 14-15 (UTC 0)
- The cost to attend the training and either/both of the conferences is a $149 donation to Empower Africa – which will cover the cost of 10 registrations or curriculum for 2 classrooms!

Meet the Leaders We are Empowering
National Leader in The Gambia
From the Fulani clan of West Africa, Pastor Abou Camara joins us at our Communicators for Christ Conference from The Gambia where he directs The Reformed National Church of The Sahel, a ministry that supports 225 female students. In a culture where young girls are often sold through flesh trafficking, he and his family work to rescue these girls and teach them to use communication, leadership, and education for real influence! Pastor Camara received theological and divinity degrees from universities in both the Philippines and Nigeria. Sharing God’s love he has planted 36 churches and has worked to dig wells for communities with no clean water. Now, he’s using ICC’s Beginning Public Speaking to help female students achieve new, extraordinary opportunities in Africa.

National Leader in Ghana
Pastor Patrick Baah deeply understands the suffering of orphans. In junior high school, Pastor Baah saw God use him to heal and deliver others. His passion to preach and win souls began. Leading others and planning missions to other villages continued throughout his high school years. At just 25 years of age, Pastor Baah started the David E Gregory Christian Academy in May 2017. The school is free for the orphans and the less privileged students in the villages around his home. Pastor Baah’s vision is to bring the gospel to young students and help them discover their unique calling and identity in God. He is serving as an elder in his fifth church plant.
BEGINNING PUBLIC SPEAKING TEACHER
JERUSHA CAMARA
JERUSHA CAMARA
Jerusha Camara, daughter of Pastor Abou Camara, joined us at our Empower Africa 2021 from The Gambia. Jerusha works alongside her father’s ministry The Reformed National Church of The Sahel, a ministry that supports 225 female students. Jerusha has helped lead the Beginning Public Speaking curriculum for the last 2 years, helping fellow students learn to both speak and listen well. Jerusha shared that before this training, students had trouble listening to instructions well. They would “speak their mind without clarity.” The BPS curriculum was a great help! Jerusha – along with a fellow student – entered a national high school competition of 20 schools. They used the basic skills learned in BPS at the competition and performed well! Jerusha is 18 years old and is attending the American International University of The Gambia studying Economics. Now, she’s training 3 more girls to teach ICC’s Beginning Public Speaking to help female students be ready to speak for Africa.
